Good afternoon. A pleasant afternoon to all of you. We have very happy to see all of you even virtually. And thank you for gracing this significant event in the history of ACPACI.
Honestly, I do not cherish the thought of you listening to me as I deliver my inaugural address as the 2022 ACPACI President. It gives me the chills…Holy Chills, if I may say.
This afternoon, we may be celebrating my inauguration as the new president of ACPACI, but I personally feel that it is you who should be celebrated and inaugurated to the huge task of building and strengthening our beloved organization and profession to be formidable, resilient and relevant as we face fresh and dynamic challenges today. You are the real reason for this gathering.
Our distinguished Keynote Speaker and inducting officer, Honorable DTI Secretary Ramon M. Lopez; Our distinguished guests of honor, the chair of the Professional Regulatory Board of Accountancy, Hon. Noe G. Quinanola, and the National President of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Ms. Marydith C. Miguel; Incumbent and former members of the Professional Regulatory Board of Accountancy; Presidents of the Accountancy Profession Sectoral and other Professional Organizations, who are all my dear friends;
My beloved past presidents of ACPACI and PICPA who are all close to my heart; My PICPA, PICPA MMR and PICPA WMMC family; My ACPACI Family; Distinguished and esteemed guests, close friends, ladies and gentlemen, a very pleasant afternoon to all.
I once came across a quote from John Wooden, an American Basketball Coach and player in 40’s. He said, “When opportunity comes, it’s too late to prepare”.
At this early point of my incumbency as ACPACI President, I share with you my enthusiasm and eager anticipation of a seemingly great year ahead for our organization. This is without undermining the realities of life, our present circumstances, brought about by the pandemic. We rise again and be on the lookout for that “OPPORTUNITY” to move this organization to a renewed sense of relevance and commitment to our profession, to our communities and industries and to our nation as a whole, lest we be caught off-guard once these opportunities come and face us head-on.
This enthusiasm should lead us to rooting for the key result areas that we have identified to zero in on this year. These are the areas of CAPACITY BUILDING, MEMBERSHIP AND STAKEHOLDER SERVICES, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND RELEVANCE SUSTAINABILITY, and COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY.
Anticipating positive key results, let us focus on strengthening our COMMITMENT to the organization and along the way, BUILDING UP CAMARADERIE. ACPACI has often confronted crises and challenges. We all know that their root causes were often addressed by promoting and defending a shared spirit of solidarity and camaraderie.

Today, we are confronted with the challenges of not just the responsibility called for by our profession, but more significantly by the responsibility our society and profession seemingly impose. We are ACCOUNTABLE for our own work which is of vital importance to our clients, as well as to the communities we dwell and belong.

Let us all be COMMITTED to promoting subject matter expertise through research, seminars, discussions and dynamic exchange of knowledge amongst ourselves. Let us never get tired of assisting our members in addressing their professional development through continuing learning.

We always commit to PROFESSIONALISM. The Filipino Professional is now at a juncture when he realizes his role Is one with great responsibility, accountability, and autonomy bound with the constraints of ethical conduct. Knowing this, The Filipino can truly claim that he embraces Professionalism at its core.

The times also call for a serious sense of ADAPTABILITY and AGILITY. Quick-changing circumstances, growing complexity and increasing dependencies on volatile global economic, environmental and socio-political conditions are creating challenges for organizations to effectively pursue their strategic advancement and achieve goals.

To a large extent, we are also challenged to practice COMPASSION. We believe that our responsibilities extend beyond our profession. Thus, we will espouse a deeper sense of social responsibility to the various publics that we serve. We will launch projects that will create and introduce changes geared towards improving the quality of life in these communities.

Let us all adhere to keeping intact the value of INTEGRITY where courtesy, honesty and responsibility is sustained in the work environment. We have been conscious that ethics and professionalism go hand-in-hand. We not only look and act the part; we also do so with legal, ethical and honest intent.

These, I believe, are what we must zero in on if we want to make sure that we realize our goals and aspirations. Even if we have the best laid plans, and the bright people to carry them out, we may not be able to do more and achieve more if we do not know what to prioritize and focus on.

John Maxwell, an American author, speaker and pastor, once said - “Smart leaders believe only half of what they hear. Discerning leaders know which half to believe”.
Everyday, we are inundated with so many ideas that are all good in themselves. What we need is the ability to discern what would be relevant to our organization this year and beyond. Let us rethink our strategies, create fresh models of engagement, renew and expand our networks, for in the end, we are a committed organization always ready to take on opportunities to develop ourselves at the right and fruitful time.

To God be the Glory. Thank you very much, and a pleasant afternoon to all once again.
