  • Facebook

December 9, 2021

Atty Walter L. Abela, Jr
2020-2021 National President

❤️ Salutation
To the Board of Directors, Officers and Past Presidents of the Association of CPAs in Commerce & Industry, 2021 Philippine Institute of CPAs Outstanding CPA in Commerce & Industry, Mr. Aphat Martinez, ACPACI Chapter Officers and members lead by Central Luzon President Atty. Toots Cruz, Pangasinan President Ms. Leila Chua- Sy, Cebu President Susan Bernardo, Bacolod President Ms. Sheila Gomez, Davao President Ms. Jonarest Sibog, Cagayan De Oro President Mr. Allan Dequito, Southern Tagalog President Edna Barrera, Nueva Ecija President Ronald Leabres, to our esteemed guest speaker, Mr. Steve Dailisan who will duly introduce later, ACPACI members, friends, guests and colleagues, good afternoon!

The month of December is really a “merry month”.  One of the good news is the decreasing number of Covid-19 cases in our country which as of now is at around 300 cases per day.  Yesterday, 370 cases were reported and considered the lowest since May 2020.   Few days ago, around 2.5 million Moderna and Pfizer vaccines arrived which means that millions of Filipinos have chances of being vaccinated before Christmas.  Omicron variant though they say is a fast spreader, may not that really severe in comparison with the other variants.  Cool weather is felt in several areas in our country.  Kaya mga ninong and ninang, cool lang kayo kasi we can naman send our aginaldo through G-cash.

From my last report in the ACPACI National Convention, I am sharing with you the following activities we had for the past month:

❤️ ACPACI National  Convention
We successfully held ACPACI’s 37th National Convention from November 4 to November 6.  Our engaging event was Chaired and Co-Chaired by Mr. Aphat Martinez and Past President Connie Cadelina.  Around 200 participants attended our convention.  Let’s just keep our fingers crossed, as we truly hope for a physical and another exciting activity in next year’s 38th ACPACI National Convention.

❤️ PICPA National Convention

ACPACI  participated in PICPA’s 76th Annual National Convention.  The Commerce & Industry Sectoral Forum Break-Out session was  held in the morning of November 24.  ACPACI showed that we’re keeping up with digitization as ACPACI was among the top four finishers in the convention’s  Mobile Legends National Tournament.

Maybe next year, as the convention might already be “face to face”, we can have a tournament for the true legends - ballroom dancing!.  We can commission as early as of now our Dancing King Aphat Martinez to share us his floor moves paired with the big time Zumba steps from Board of Director Tita Cynthia Campos.

❤️ 1st Chapter Conference
Through the leadership and guidance of ACPACI Past President Ms. Lolit Tang, ACPACI had its 1st Chapter Conference on December 2.  Technical Session Topics were Year-end Tax Reminders given by BIR Head Revenue Executive Assistant Ms. Marivic Galban and Computerized Bookeeping System for MSMEs given by QNE Software Sales Manager Ms. Jennifer Gaut.

Board of Accountancy Chairman Hon. Noe Quinanola graced the occasion and our very own ACPACI Past President Tita Lita Aguirre, PICPA Foundation Executive Director gave the Inspirational Message.

This is also the occasion of inducting a new member chapter, Ormoc Chapter  and likewise the induction of new officers of  Central Luzon Chapter and witnessing their turn-over ceremonies.  Congratulations Ormoc Chapter and to Central Luzon Chapter lead by President Atty. Toots  Cruz and Past President Tita Baby Caleon!

❤️ Christmas Get-together
ACPACI Board of Directors and Officers had their Christmas get-together at Executive Director Ms. Winnie Cuico’s garden haven in  Silang, Cavite.  Everybody enjoyed the first face to face “kamustahan” since last year’s quarantine and had a number of fun games courtesy of ever energetic Fellowship Chairperson Menchie Marcos.  The food and refreshments are served by renowned catering and management event company, the Red Chef and Events.  The activity was held “al fresco” in the lush garden and cool breeze from afternoon until evening.

❤️ White Cross Orphanage
Last December 4, to welcome Yuletide Season, through our Social Involvement Director Ms. Flor Gorospe and Committee Chair Mr. Noel Ang, ACPACI donated toiletries, vitamins, medicines, groceries and school supplies for the children of White Cross Orphanage in San Juan City, Metro Manila. This is in cooperation with SM Foundation, Inc., Philippine Association of Management Accountants and the Rotary Club of San Juan North.

This gift giving was also attended by ACPACI Past President Ms. Lolit Tang and BOD Mr. Kurt Dayrit.  There are 62 children in the orphanage who are waiting for adoption.

❤️ Children under Oblate Sisters of St. Francis Xavier
The annual gift giving of ACPACI to the special children under the care of Oblate Sisters of St. Francis Xavier in Paranaque City was held last November 30. This social involvement activity is through the kind assistance of Board of Director Edna Constantino.

This is the 10th year of ACPACI’s annual gift giving to these special children.

❤️ BOA Resolution No. 49 Series of 2021
Board of Accountancy issued Resolution No. 49 which took effect on November 30, 2021.  This resolution amended a provision of Resolution No. 33 regarding the CPD credit on on-line learning.  Previously, the maximum CPD credit for a day is 3 units.  However, effective November 30 onwards, the Board of Accountancy can now allow up to 6 CPD credits in a day on on-line seminar and activities for annual convention or conferences.  This is a welcome development on CPD credits as the organizational sectors like ACPACI are shifting to hybrid conferences (face to face and virtual) due to our pandemic situation.

❤️ Institute of Management Accountants of Southeast Asia.
Through our Publication and Website Committee Co-chair Mr. Loudie Jay Falguera who is also the Philippine Chapter President of Institute of Management Accountants or IMA, ACPACI is currently  evaluating our collaboration with IMA of Southeast Asia with regard to our assistance in webinars and trainings.   In the past, IMA of Singapore provided ACPACI members free on-line certifications on the training programs of IMA.

We believe that our collaboration with IMA will greatly enhance the development of ACPACI and its members and we’re optimistic that our collaboration will take place early next year.

❤️ Closing
Let me extend my sincere appreciation for your participation in this last General Membership Meeting for the year and stay put as we have great games, special numbers and exciting prizes in our Christmas Party.  My heartfelt thanks to all our sponsors, to ACPACI Board of Directors, Committee Chairpersons/Officers, Chapter Officers, Members for your support and assistance throughout the year.  “Maraming salamat din po” to our ACPACI Past Presidents who are here, to ACPACI Secretariat and forever active and lively Fellowship Committee headed by BOD John Manansala and Chairperson Menchie Marzan-Marcos.

After what we all experienced this year - which  ends in a merry  and joyful Christmas, is Christmas really a season?  As I quote Edna Ferber “ Christmas is not a season. It’s a feeling”. God bless everyone and Merry, Merry Christmas!

Atty Walter
