Thess Villafuerte, to our esteemed guest speaker for this afternoon session, Mr. Arun Gogna, PICPA officers, ACPACI Past Presidents, Chapter Presidents, Board of Directors and Officers, to ACPACI members, friends, guests and colleagues, good afternoon!

As mentioned in my message in the Opening Session of our convention, I cannot imagine that it’s been almost two years now of having socially distanced activities.  It is really a challenging period to an organization like ACPACI on how to maintain our commitment,  especially in dispensing our duty.   As if, we are trying to fight courageously  an unseen foe and at the same time  trying very hard for our own trenches and backyards are not breached by this unseen enemy.  Nonetheless, this extraordinary time really brings out the best in us - our dedication to our profession, commitment to ACPACI and importantly love to our neighbors, especially those in dire needs.  As CPAs, we’ve shown our resiliency, resourcefulness and immediate adaptability to the changes.  We are all now looking forward for a truly Merry Christmas, as the pandemic cases continue to decrease and our local government units had already started inoculating the so called pediatric population.  Though our theme for this afternoon is Halloween, let me be the first one to greet you a Merry Christmas!

Let me share with you some of the activities of our organization for the past months beginning with the Accountancy Week.

❤️ Controllers’ Summit

As part of the 2021 Accountancy Week Celebration, ACPACI in cooperation with PICPA held on July 14 the Spotlight on Commerce and Industry – 13th CFO, Controllers and Accountants Summit.  Noted CFOs  in our country were invited to share their experiences and companies’ resiliency programs. The summit was attended by around 300 participants.

❤️ Philippine Qualification Framework (PQF) Summit

ACPACI collaborated with PICPA and Professional Regulatory Board of Accountancy for a Philippine Qualification Framework (PQF) Summit.  Technical Sessions 3 and 4 on August 27, 2001 were for CPAs in Commerce & Industry Sector in order for the members to understand what PQF is all about.   The Summit is attended by an estimated 400 CPAs and wherein our ACPACI Board of Director Mr. Allan Palacio moderated  the forum and ACPACI Past President Ms. Connie Cadelina as one of the Panelists.

❤️ Bridge Program

ACPACI, in partnership with Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants TIP Manila and PICPA Western Metro Manila successfully launched last August  13 the Bridge Program, a four part series webinar which is primarily aimed in preparing the accountancy students for the real world work experience by mastering key tools and techniques such as excel and data analysis.  This pioneering program is a welcome addition to other ACPACI student related programs and activities such as scholarship and Search for Outstanding Accounting Students of the Philippines (SOASP).  Board of Director Allan Palacio lead this activity and around 1,000 students participated in this program.

❤️ Tahanang Mapagpala Immaculada Concepcion Foundation, Inc.

Similar to assistance extended to Golden Reception and Action Center and Other Cases or GRACES in Quezon City last March, ACPACI, extended it social involvement project to another home for elderly which in this time is at  Tahanang Mapagpala Immaculada Concepcion Foundation, Inc. in Malolos Bulacan. ACPACI through its Past President Lolit Tang, Board of Director Flor Gorospe, Social Involvement Committee Chair Noel Ang and ANC Chair Aphat Martinez donated various foods, medicines, toiletries and groceries to our Lolas, nuns and personnel of the home for elderly.

Another  ACPACI Social Involvement Committee upcoming projects are assistance to White Cross, an orphanage in San Juan City and the annual Christmas Gift Giving to children who are under the care of Oblate Sisters of St. Francis Xavier in Parañaque City.

❤️ SOASP and Scholarship

Through the years, ACPACI is in partnership with P&A Foundation and PICPA for the Search for Outstanding Accounting Students of the Philippines or SOASP.  We have started the discussion with P&A Foundation together with the National Association of CPAs in Education for the 2022 SOASP.

We revived our financial assistance to a number PUP Accountancy Students through our ACPACI Past President Wowie Roguel and Board of Director Edna Constantino.  Likewise, we renewed ACPACI commitment to support Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila Accountancy Students through the coordination of our ACPACI Executive Director and Past President Ms. Winnie Cuico.

❤️ Institute of Management Accountants of Southeast Asia.

Through our Publication and Website Committee Co-chair Mr. Loudie Jay Falguera who is also the Philippine Chapter President of Institute of Management Accountants or IMA, ACPACI is working on this kind of collaboration with IMA of Southeast Asia which based in Singapore with regard to our assistance in webinars and trainings.   In the past, IMA of Singapore provided ACPACI members free on-line certifications on the training programs of IMA.

We believe that our collaboration with IMA will greatly enhance the development of ACPACI and its members.

❤️ Closing

Let me extend my heartfelt appreciation to all of our sponsors, to ACPACI Board of Directors, Committee Chairpersons/Officers, and Members for your unwavering and unselfish support and assistance, as well as to our Past Presidents, ACPACI Secretariat and friends. Many thanks to PICPA and its various chapters for your help  as well as to our esteemed speakers and participants in making our ACPACI Convention another successful one.  God bless everyone and thank you very much!
