President's Report

2nd GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

June 25, 2021

❤️ Salutation

To Board Members, Chapter Presidents, Past Presidents, officers  and members of ACPACI; to our distinguished speaker Dr. Gia Sison, fellow CPAs, colleagues and friends – a very pleasant afternoon to all and welcome to ACPACI’s 2nd General Membership Meeting.

As many of us are still locked in our Work from Home set up and though a number is braving working in their offices, we need  to evaluate too how this work from home arrangement during the pandemic affect the state of health or if we specified, the “mental health” of our professionals.  In our past General Membership Meeting, we have been enlightened by our session’s “Business Resiliency and Recovery: Why it Matters”, and this afternoon session will help us to understand “Why Mental Health Matters”.   Using the power of mind, despite the challenges of our current situation, let’s never forget our Filipino resiliency spirit in relation to our ACPACI’s 2021 adopted theme “Reimagine and recover.  RISE in the Next Normal”.

For the next minutes, let me share with you the activities of our organization, for the past months and forthcoming projects:

❤️ Bingo On-line
On May 22, we had our 1st Bingo On-line Fellowship Game.  Just like in basketball games, it’s an exciting and heart pounding social game as the ultimate winner was never decided until the last minute.  Thanks for those who sponsored and supported this activity as the proceeds will be used for ACPACI’s social involvement projects and scholarship program.    Thanks a lot to our ACPACIan and former Vice-President, Ms. Kathie Sobremonte for leading this fellowship game and and as well as to our BOD Cynthia Campos and Ways & Means Chairperson Cecille Carandang.

❤️ SOASP
ACPACI is in partnership with P&A Foundation and PICPA for the 22nd  Search for Outstanding Accounting Students of the Philippines or SOASP. On May 29, we held the Finals Proper where 5 out of initial 437 accounting students all over the Philippines, are the finalists.  Congratulations to Butch Warren Hojas of University of Visayas who emerged as the Champion for this year’s SOASP.  Thank you P&A Foundation for leading this important activity as well as to BOD Edna Constantino and ACPACI Past President Wowie Roguel for coordinating well with us this event.

❤️ New Members Orientation
On June 17, through our Membership Committee lead by BOD Mel Cruz, we had an hour orientation of the incoming ACPACI members.  Thanks to Mel for this initiative and likewise to ACPACI officers Kurt Dayrit and Loudie Faguera also attended the activity.

❤️ Digital Transformation

On Digital Transformation, this is one of the exciting projects we have in order to better serve our members. As you can note now, you can connect with ACPACI using our website and mobile app and get instant chat and email responses from our Secretariat. Not only that, the created self-service online portals in our website where members and prospective members can apply for membership and register to ACPACI’s events anywhere and anytime.

In the same website, we compiled resources mainly from webinars, conferences and meetings and ACPACI members can now conveniently download copies of the presentation materials and watch recorded videos. We even have a web page for job finder.

So I hope that you can visit not only our FB page but also the ACPACI website and navigate it.  Many thanks to BOD Allan Palacio and Publication Committee Chair Loudie Falguera and the rest of the committee members, and also to BOD Atty. Cesar Ilagan and Regulatory & Special Project Chair Kurt Dayrit for providing the government regulatory updates.

❤️ Closing
We have still a number of activities for our afternoon’s session. But let me extend my heartfelt thanks to all, to our Sponsors of this General Membership Meeting, to ACPACI BODs, Chairpersons, Committee Members, Past Presidents, ACPACI Secretariat lead by Grace and Jaden, and friends for all your continued support.  Before I forget, I want to invite you in the forthcoming Annual Accountancy Week Celebration next month where our ACPACI Day is slated on Wednesday, July 14.    God bless and maraming salamat po!

Atty Walter
