ABOUT THE SESSION

Mr. Jose Paulo R. Soliman, VP for MSME Segment Head at Unionbank of the Philippines, and Mr. Randyl Tabajonda, IT Audit of Excellence based in London, UK, presented the topic "Prevent Cyber-Attacks: What Accounting Professionals Need to Know".

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Mr. JOSE PAULO “JAYPEE” R. SOLIMAN is currently the Vice president and the SME Segment and Platforms Head under the Customer Experience Group of UnionBank. Part of his role is leading the group that drives the bank’s various innovations on banking products, technology and platform solutions for the MSME market coming from the lenses of customer experience, market behavior, journey and relevance. 

 

He graduated from De LaSalle University, Manila, with a degree on Behavioral Sciences majoring in Organizational Systems Development and also completed his academic units for Master’s Degree in Industrial Psychology. 

 

Prior to joining UnionBank, he was connected with one of the largest Global Banking and Financial institution for 2 years and had a 3-year career stint with a Global Advertising agency. 

 

Jaypee joined UnionBank in 2008, starting his career with Transaction Banking - Cash Management as the Team Lead for Retail Bank Sales Unit for 7 years. He was appointed as Head of Customer Segments Management from 2015 to November 2019 and was then appointed to be the Head of SME Platforms unit for the SME Banking Group which he managed up to November of 2020. Currently, he has moved into a larger role with Customer Experience Group as SME Segment and Platforms Head. 

 

With his long-standing career in UnionBank coupled with his in-depth knowledge on the financial, operational and technical-solutions areas, Jaypee has become an expert - for micro, small and large enterprises. More importantly, he has helped them not only find, understand, but also, maximize the digital banking solutions for their businesses.

 

Furthermore, he has participated in numerous business and technology forums in both local and international arenas as a key resource speaker and subject matter expert evangelizing the importance of digital transformation, e-commerce, and choosing the right, reputable partners in growing one’s business. Jaypee is also an MSME himself, having started small companies with other partners in the past, and sitting as part of the Board of Advisors in a number of SME Startups. Jaypee is also recently appointed as a Founding member of the International Council for Small Business (ICSB) Philippine Chapter.

Mr. RANDYL TABAJONDA has more than 14 years of audit and advisory experience, focusing on business and IT processes and controls review and assurance. He owes his strong career foundation at SGV & Co, a member of EY Global, where he acquired his skills in Big Data and Analytics, General and Application IT Controls, Systems Fit Analysis, Risks and Controls Assessment and Programme Management.  

 

He had secondment opportunities in Boston and New York City (USA) and London (UK). Due to his exposure working at different geographies, he was given a prestigious Special Award for three reasons: (1) strong "People First" principle; (2) excellent service delivery; and (3) practical leadership skills. 

 

He had a great opportunity managing third party assurance reporting and integrated audit projects and was also given a service delivery lead role for due diligence reviews of large banks in the US and the UK. In addition, he managed multiple insurance audit engagements. His years of experience provided him with an in-depth understanding of "collaborative work culture", working with various teams across the globe. 

 

He is currently a senior manager at KPMG LLP in the UK, working in IT audit while driving quality and innovation. He is also one of "The Faces of KPMG", promoting KPMG's Core Values.  

 

In August 2021, he was seconded to KPMG’s Audit Centre of Excellence (ACE) - Second Line of Defence (2LD) team for his strong IT audit technical background. This opportunity enables him to support the national IT audit portfolio.

 

He is also a Cancer Campaigns Ambassador in the UK and his primary role, together with other ambassadors, is to persuade the Members of the Parliament (MP) in the UK to prioritise cancer as part of their political agenda. 

 

As at date, he completed his certificate course on Digital Transformation Platform Strategies online at MIT Sloan Management Executive Education through Emeritus with a rating of 100%. He has also started with his Master’s Program in Digital Transformation Leadership with Simplilearn, with Harvard Business Publishing Education as the online bootcamp’s content partner.
